Craig Reynolds’ Bio For artist Craig Reynolds, a connection between family and art has been a lifelong recurring theme, and a legacy he hopes to continue. Craig grew up in Gadsden, Alabama and comes from a long line of artists. Craig’s father is the late Leo Reynolds, a successful Watercolorist in the southeast. Craig considers his father “one of the most inspiring people he has ever known.” As a very young child Craig remembers seeing a black and white bird dog scene that Leo painted on a window shade using house paint. This intrigued him, and he continued to watch his father using various mediums to make paintings come to life. Soon, Craig was breathing life into the canvas himself. Craig began painting professionally in 1984 and has won numerous awards throughout the southeast. Craig also attended the School of Italian Plasters where he learned the ancient technique of applying Venetian Plasters. He studied traditional European methods that date back thousands of years and is now incorporating these techniques into some of his work. Craig’s experience as a Watercolorist and Muralist creating unique Realistic/Impressionistic pieces along with years of experimenting with a variety of tools and techniques have given him the skill to craft one-of-a-kind works of art using many different mediums which includes oil, acrylic, watercolor, house paint, powdered pigment, and plaster. Craig brings his paintings to life with the use of strong contrast, perspective and color combinations. His style of loose brush strokes and soft edges bring out the impressionistic side of realism. Whatever the subject, Craig brings his own original style and interpretation to his work. His paintings portray pleasant memories and a sense of peace. Craig is a member of the Gadsden and Birmingham Art Associations. He is represented by The Dobbin Gallery in Charleston, The Dobbin Gallery at Kiawah Island, The Gale Gallery in New Orleans, The Renaissance Gallery in Northport, Alabama and Market Place Interiors in Gadsden, Alabama.
